A lot of young people I talk to think Willie wrote it and he's the only one they've heard sing it! Roy Acuff recorded it 8-2-45 unissued, then again 1-28-47 Columbia 37822 and Columbia 20367. Hank Williams sung it on a Mother's Best Show in 1951. Here is Acuff's version of 1947: (E) In the twilight glow I see her, (B7) Blue eyes cryin' in the (E) rain, When we kissed goodbye and parted, I (B7) knew we'd never meet a- (E)-gain. (E7) Bridge #1: (A) Love is like a dying ember, (E) Only memories re-(B7)-main, (E) Through the ages I'll remember, (B7) Blue eyes cryin' in the (E) rain. Instrumental break: Bridge #2: (A) Someday when we meet up yonder, (E) We'll stroll hand in hand a-(B7)-gain, (E) In a land that knows no parting, (B7) Blue eyes cryin' in the (E) rain. Tim Ausburn
