I bought this album the 1st week in October, and heard this tune for the first
time that night. In my opinion, this is a truly amazing song, not just for
the great harmonies and lyrics, but also because it honestly tells so much of
what I've been experiencing in my own current relationship. I couldn't have
written it any better (well, except maybe for that "crucify" part!) At any
rate, hope you enjoy. This is my first tab post, all my own work, and I'm
almost certain everything's correct, but it's probably best to listen closely
to the song a few times to make your own adjustments if needed. If you have
any suggestions / comments / corrections / good jokes to tell, email me (Dave)

* means mute the high 'e' string when playing these chords during intro &
verse 1 (use the pinky on your strumming hand). The song follows a very
straight-forward, 8 beats to-the-measure strumming pattern. Lyrics in
(parentheses) are background vocals, harmonized with the lyrics right above or
to the left of them.
Intro:
D* G* D* G* D* G* D* G*
Verse 1:
D*G* D* G*
I think it's getting to the point where I can
D* G* D* G* D* G*
Be myself again. It's getting to the point where we have almost made amends.
(I think ...)
D*G* Bm Bb A7
I think it's the getting to the point that is the hardest part.
Chorus:
G D
And if you call (I will answer)
G D
And if you fall (I'll pick you up)
G D
And if you court (this disaster)
A7
I'll point you home,
D G D G
I'll point you home.
Verse 2:
D G D G
You think I only think about you when we're
D G D G D G
Both in the same room. I'm only here to witness the remains of love exhumed.
(You think ...)
D G Bm Bb A7
You think we're here to play a game of who loves more than whom.
Chorus:
G D
And if you call (I will answer)
G D
And if you fall (I'll pick you up)
G
And if you court this
Break:
Em Emadd4 Em Emadd4
disaster ...
Em Emadd4 Em Emadd4
G D/F# D/F G
Verse 3:
D G D G
You think it's only fair to do what's best for
D G D G D G
You and you alone. It's only fair to do the same to me when you're not home.
(You think ...)
D G Bm Bb A7
I think it's time to make this something that is more than only fair.
Chorus:
G D
So if you call (I will answer)
G D
And if you fall (I'll pick you up)
G D
If you court (this disaster)
A7
I'll point you home
Verse 4:
G(2) Gm D Bm
But I'm warning you, don't ever do those crazy, messed-up things that you do
G(2) Gm D Bm
If you ever do, I promise you I'll be the first to crucify you
G(2) Gm D
Now it's time to prove that you'll come back here to rebuild
G D/F# G D/F# G D/F# G
To rebuild, To rebuild, To rebuild, To rebuild, To rebuild, To rebuild, To
rebuild ...
(repeat ad lib and end on D)
