 Notes
 ------
 
 The song is in 4/4 time, and uses 2 guitars.
 
 Throughout the track there is a rhythm guitar buried low in the mix,
 well below the organ - which provides the main backing throughout. In
 the choruses its possible to make out the rhythm guitar part. In the
 verses it isn't possible to tell exactly what the rhythm guitar is
 playing. So, in Verses 1 and 2 only the chord names are shown above the
 stave.
 
 There are quite a few live CDs and 2 discs of session material which
 contain alternate versions of 'Smash It Up' - on most of these its
 possible to hear the guitar quite clearly. Probably the best one to
 listen to is the version on 'The Radio One Sessions' CD.
 
 Guitar1 plays rhythm, along with the Organ. All the rhythm chords are
 barre chords, as shown in the Rhythm Chord TAB stave.
 
 Verse 3 includes simple lead guitar lines, based on C and G chords.
 
 The guitar solos are played by Guitar2. The CD times for each are
 included in the TAB stave. 
 
 The solos in the Intro and Chorus 1 are very similar. The emphasis and
 timing of the notes produced by the hammer-ons and slides are important
 to making it sound right. Bar 1 of each solo is played at a brisk pace,
 don't dwell on the first slide (as you might if you were playing blues).
 The 'Pinched Harmonic' (bar8) is played by catching the string with the
 side of the thumb (picking hand) whilst striking it with the plectrum.
 
 The solo in Chorus 3 is an epic by Punk standards, lasting 40 bars. 
 Bars 1-8 are based, loosely, on the pattern used in earlier solos.
 Bars 9-15 use a repeated figure (B-string, 8th fret), this works
 due to the changing bassline beneath it.
 Bars 21-23 make use of melody with a pedal note (the open B-string).
 Bars 24-31 make use of doublestops, combined with hammer-ons and pull
 -offs.
 Bars 33 and 39 use tremelo picking.
 
 The solo in chorus 3, reverts closely to the original pattern. This
 solo is extended by 8-bars, using the repeated figure first used in
 bars 9-15 of the solo in chorus 2.
