 Verse 1 :

 D Bm G D D Bm G E/G#
It's only natural with time, details can somehow slip your mind
 E/G# G D/A A4____A D
Something so sweet, though incomplete you fill the spaces in-between
 D Bm G D D Bm G Em/G#
It never will be that way again, maybe it wasn't way back when
 E/G# G D/A A4________A
But to my heart and soul this is the way the story has to be told

 Refrain :

 D Bm G A4
That's the way I remember it, I remember it that way
          D Bm G A4
 >From the day I was living it, I remember it that way
               G A4
Some of our stories fade as we grow older
          E/G# G A4
Some get sweeter every time they're to___ld
             D Bm G ( D )
That's the way I remember it that way

 Verse 2 :

 D Bm G D D Bm G E/G#
Guess now if the truth were known, among diamonds they were stones
 E/G# G D/A A4________A D
To say would be fair, girl, nothing compares, to when I called you all my own
 D Bm G D D Bm G E/G#
So darling don't ever you think twice, those were the best days of my life
 E/G# G D/A A4________A
When I held you there and I'll tell this story this way, time and again

 Refrain :

 D Bm G A4
That's the way I remember it, I remember it that way
          D Bm G A4

That's the way I remember it, I remember it that way

 Comments :

The guitar player on the record didn't play E/G# and D/A Chords, I guess he
played standard E and D Chords, but the Bass Player played a G# and A while
the guitar player played an E and D. Usually that's nothing to care about,
but in this song the bass is very typical. So if you want it to sound
authentic, then you'll have to play it with the chords written here.

 E/G# Type 1 E/G# Type 2 D/A A4

 e0 e4 e2 e0
 b0 b5 b3 b3
 g1 g4 g2 g2
 D2 D- D4 D2
 A2 A- A0 A0
 E4 E4 E- E-

I'm not sure about the 3'rd and 4'th chord in the intro. I hope that they're
the right ones; at least they're very close to the original chords.
