 Yup, it's "Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology)" by Marvin Gaye. That and
 "What's Goin' On" are very similar. Heh, I was once in a band that played
 the two songs as a medley!
 The chord progression is: E  C#m7  F#  B7
 I know the lyrics by heart:
 Whoa, oh mercy mercy me
 Things aint what they used to be oh no
 Where did all the blue skies go?
 Poison is the wind that blows
 From the north and south and east
 Oh mercy mercy me
 Things aind what they used to be no no
 Oil wasted on the oceans and upon our seas
 Fish full of mercury
 Oh, mercy mercy me
 Oh Things ain't what they used to be oh no
 Radiation underground and in the sky
 Animals and birds who live nearby all die
 Oh mercy mercy me
 Things ain't what they used to be 
 What about this overcrowded land
 How much more abuse from man can she stand?
 
 
 
 This song was written in 1970, I believe. Marvin Gaye also wrote "Inner City
 Blues." Those songs are still relevant today. The man was clearly ahead of
 his time.
