they offer a few different ways of playing each song.

                                    Tuning

    A few fans have suggested that Jars of Clay's guitars are not in
    standard tuning for their songs, except "Liquid". This indeed is the
    case: The most accurate tuning we've heard is "Open E", which is
    EABEBE (low to high). Adding the capo-3 makes this an "Open G". The
    tabs found on this page may not account for this tuning, so take that
    into consideration when attempting to use these tabs.

    Thanks to Rick Murphy for providing this tuning information...

You probably have to listen to the song to get the rhythm down,
because it might be hard to tell from my junk up above...

Then just repeat chords 1 & 2 until the verse starts again, then
begin with the verse progression and lick, it also ends on the
same progression.  That's it!

   Lift me up; I need You to hold me
           A    F            G   -(FADE)-
   Lift me up; keep me from drowning again

VERY IMPORTANT!

For those power chords, the fewer strings you play, the
better. I think they use slight palm muting.

Chorus chords:
It's like a barre chord, but only barring the low E, not all
six.

A   - 577600
G   - 355400
Em7 - 020000
F   - 133200

As for the string arrangement after the chorus, you're on
your own.

    I put thison capo 3 for those who can't bar yet. For those of you who
    can do bar chords, you chould be able to change my written chords to
    "non-capo" chords. Note: When writing songs on capo, most people write
    the actual name of the chord - too confusing. I write it as if you
    were playing it. For example: Song, capo 3- play a G (which is
    actually a Bb)

Capo  3

Chorus:

A9----->E
A9------>Cadd9----->G----E

    From experience I know that typing out all the words to this song
    takes a considerable amount of time. Look for all the words here.

Verse:
A9               B9             C#/A9
     I am the only one to blame for this
A9               B9             F#/A9
     Somehow it all ends up the same

Bridge:
            C9              B9              A9
With a world I tried so hard to leave behind
      C9             B9               A9
To rid myself of all but love, to give and die

Chorus:
       C9     E               A9
To love you- Take my worlds apart
   (hold A9)
To need you- I am on my knees
       C9     E               A9
To love you- take my worlds apart
To need you- broken on my knees (C9--->B9------>A9)

Repeat verse-->bridge-->verse-->bridge--->chorus.......then:

0------2----2-----0-----2------2-------4-----4---4----4-----4------4
---0-----0-----------0------0--------------0----0-------0-----0-----
--------------------------------------------------------------------
4------------------2-------------------0--------------0-------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Then somewhere around: "So take my heart..." it starts this:
C9---->B9---->A9

And the song ends on: C#/A9

Chords:

C#/A9----X42200
F#/A9----202200
C9--------X46600
A9--------002200
B9--------X24400
E----------022100

This tab sounds pretty decent, it might not be 100% correct, but
playing along with the CD sounds all right. Please note the original
transcription on the chords page works just as well, so pick the one
you like best.
