 INTRO:
Play part 1 with opening note. Play second time without opening note, do
the 6 and 4 string alternate bass part twice as long

  (part 1)
Please give me a second grace
  (part 1 again)
Please give me a second face
  (part 2 till next verse)
I'm falling far down, the first time around

Now I just sit on the ground in your way

Now if its time for recompence for what's done
Come come sit down on the fence in the sun
And the clouds will roll by and will never deny
Its really too hard for to fly

Please tell me your second name
Please play me your second game
I've fallen so far, for the people you love
I just need your star for the day

So come, come ride in my street car by the bay
For now I must know how fine you are in your way
And the sea she will sigh but she won't need to cry
For it's really too hard for to fly

NOTES: I'd recommend tuning down to CGCFCF because with DADGDG you are
VERY likely to break one of the top two strings trying to get into this
tuning. Note also the similarity between this song and the already
posted Pink Moon (CGCFCE or DADGDF# as the case may be).
There are two released versions of Fly, a band version on Bryter Layter
and a demo solo version on Time of No Reply. I learned this song from
the Time of No Reply version since it's just the guitar, but I included
the words (to the best of my ability) from the Bryter Layter since that
was the "final" version of the song. There is considerable difference
between the two versions of lyrics.
All verses have the same chord pattern. You might try sliding up to the
9th fret for a nice effect, and hammering on the first note of the fifth
string in part 1 is also sometimes done by Drake I think. The first note
of part 2 (the 5 on the sixth string) is sometimes done, sometimes not-
 its incidental.
At the end of the song there is some instrumental work that is basically
not very hard to duplicate variations on part 2. I didn't tab it because
I didn't think it was essential- you can learn the above stuff, listen to
Nick Drake's version and then be able to get the gist of the end part
pretty easily I think. Enjoy, and improvements are welcome.
