Ok, for you Pantera freaks out there, here is a slab of classic Diamond
Darrell-filled riffs and Philip Anselmo-angry vocals. This tune is based
around a chromatic ascending power chord tuned way down to a D (that means,
from high to low, the strings are D, A, F, C, G, D). To attain that rude
tone that Darrell uses, you must first set your distortion level pretty high.
Second, add a little stereo chorus (with the rate set just before midpoint)
to give the guitar a little breathing room. Personally, I find that tube
amps work GREAT for Pantera's tone. But I read recently in an interview
that Darrell's Randall amps are solid-state!!! (You'll understand what I mean
if you play through a solid state amp and try to get a Pantera-like tone).
It's your call, though. Work with whatever you feel is right. Finally,
throw a wah-pedal in for the interlude. Jam the pickup switch up to the neck
for a fat, chunky sound and your set! Have fun. Any
questions/comments/regrets, please Email me at ICSLM@asuvm.inre.asu.edu.

And on, and on, and on...

Notes: The Sixth Riff uses F notes on the low E string. Although
some of the notes appear to be 11's, they are actually 1's. They need to be
close enough to show the double-pick speed Darrell is using. Also, on the
tail end of both fifth and sixth riffs, Darrell uses tremolo picking on the
 12th and 13th notes (respectively).
