this is just additional remarks to the current "freshman" tabulature.
 ##########################################################################

Most of the tabulature for the freshman by the vervepipe is correct. the
 following is just my suggestion.

The beginning part goes as such:

 -----------2-------------------------------------------
 ---0-2--5-----0-2--5-4---0-----------------------------
 -------------------------------------------------------
 -------------------------------------------------------
 -------------------------------------------------------
 -------------------------------------------------------

 Then for the chords are E- A- C#m- A
The tab page has the prechorus as E- A- A- A
   - but I think that since it sounds sorta minor-ish, it should be as
 	follows:

    ("Can't be held responsible. . ") part:
 	C#m (plucked)- A %(repeated until chorus)

The chorus is right on. have a great time with this song. I hope
 I was helpful.

 The Freshman
 By The Verve Pipe

I'm surprised this hasn't already been posted, the chords of the song
 aren't that hard.
I don't know the exact picking pattern he uses due to inexperience.
I don't even know that this is correct but it sounds good with the CD.
This is kind of a guess at it:

 Intro/Verse/Chorus
 -----------------------------------------------------------------
 ------9-------------6--------2-----------------------------------
 ----9--------6----6--------2-------------------------------------
 ---9-------7-----6--------2--------------------------------------
 --7--7----7-----4--4--2--0--0------------------------------------
 ---------5--5----------------------------------------------------

That's pretty much the whole song is that pattern. It may be wrong,
 I don't know.

Listen to the CD to get the rhythm.

 Have Fun.

when iw as young I knew everything
and she a punk who rarely ever took advice
 now i'm guilt stricken,
soobing with my head on the floor
stop a baby's breath and a shoe full of rice

 Chorus:
 i can't be held responsible
cause she was touching her face
 i won't be held responsible
she fell in love in the first place

for the life of me i cannot remember
what made us think that we were wise and
 we'd never compromise
for the life of me i cannot believe
we'd ever die for these sins
 we were merely freshmen

my best friend took a week's
 vacation to forget her
his girl took a week's worth of
 valium and slept
now he's guilt stricken sobbing with hi
 head on the floor
thinks about her now and how he never really
 wept he says

 Chorus

we never talk of our lacking relationships
and how we're guilt stricken sobbing with our

we feel through the ice when we tried not to
 slip, we'd say

 Pre-chorus (Riff 2. w/ Fill 3. 4X)

 Chorus (2X - Riff 3.)

 Outro (Riff 1. 2X w/ Fill 1. and 2. played 2X)

 Subject: "Freshmen" by Verve Pipe

This is the tab for "Freshmen" by Verve Pipe. I believe most of the tab is accurate, but any corrections are encouraged.

The entire song is capoed on the 2nd fret, but I will tab it without consideration of the capo. So, -1- is actually -3-. And I didn't do the timing, but it's not hard if you've heard the song. Plus, I'm not too sure about the accuracy of the chord names, so go easy on me.

 Intro 2x:
     E#sus2 A C#min
 e|---------------0----------------------3---------------------|
 B|--------3--------------3--------3----------------------3----|
 G|-----2-----2--------2--------0-----0-------------4^¿^¿----------|
 D|--0-------------------------------------------4-----4-----4-|
 A|-------------------------------------------2----------------|
 E|--------------------------3---------------------------------|
     B A
 e|--------------------|
 B|--------------------|
 G|-----------------4--|
 D|-----2--------5-----|
 A|--0--------5--------|
 E|--------3-----------|

At the beginning of the second time through the intro (the E#sus2), the second guitar plays this:

 e|--------------------|
 B|---------3--h5------|
 G|--2--h4-------------|
 D|--------------------|
 A|--------------------|
 E|--------------------|^¿^¿^¿

Then at the C#min the second guitar plays:

 e|--------------------|
 B|---------3--\2------|
 G|--2--h4-------------|
 D|--------------------|
 A|--------------------|
 E|--------------------|

The verse is the same as the intro. It plays two times then goes into the chorus:
     C#min B A
 e|----------------------------------------|
 B|----------------------------------------|
 G|--------4-----------2-----------------4-|
 D|-----4-----4-----2-----2--------5-------|
 A|--2-----------0--------------5-----5----|
 E|--------------------------3-------------|
 				                        Can't be held responsible...
There is a post-chorus of sorts, but the guitar plays the same thing as the verse, so I won't bother tabing it out. It's where he sings "For the life of me..."
Now it returns to the verse.

After the second verse and the chorus comes up again, the guitar changes to:

 e|---------------------------------0-----------|
 B|--3--2--3----3--2--3----3--2--3-----3--2--3--|
 G|---------------------------------------------|
 D|---------------------------------------------|
 A|---------------------------------------------|
 E|---------------------------------------------|
                          Can't be held responsible...
 Post chorus
 Chorus
 (No post chorus)
 Verse
 Chorus
The post chorus changes here from picking to just the chords with some distortion. I think they are power chords, but I'm not sure.

 E#sus2:022xxx
 A:322xxx
 C#min:x244xx
 B:x022xx
 A:355xxx

 Chorus-Post 2x

The chords continue, softly, to the end of the song. But layed on top of the distorted chords is the original line from the second guitar at the beginning and continues to the end of the song.
 e|--------------------| e|--------------------|

The Freshmen by The Verve Pipe

This is my version of the song. When Guitar World's tab came out this month,
I thought "this is stupid." There were at least 2 guitars playing, and one had
a capo behind the 2nd fret, and the other one played all these little fills.
 It was
just really complicated. So I came up with my own version, which I think sounds
as good if not better than the version as heard on the CD. Here it goes, no
 capo,
no alternate tunings, no nonsense. Hope you like it!

 Standard Tuning

 b=bend
Note after the bend in parentheses is created when the bend is released

Intro/Verse (When I was young I knew everything...)
 Let each note ring

 e|------------------------------------------------------|
 B|-----------------------2------------------------------|
 G|---------1---------2---------6---6--------------------|
 D|-----2-------2---2---2-----6---6---------7---7--------|
 A|---2---2---2---0---------4---------2---7---7----------|
 E|-0-----------------------------------5----------------|

 Pre-Chorus (I won't be held responsible...)
 Gtr. 1 (acoustic)

 e|------------------------------------------------------|
 B|------------------------------------------------------|
 G|-----6-------4----------------------------------------|
 D|---6---6---4---4-----7---(7)-let-ring-----------------|
 A|-4-------2---------7---7------------------------------|
 E|-----------------5------------------------------------|

 Gtr. 2 (electric)

 e|-0------0--0------0--0------0---|
 B|-4b-(4)-4b-4b-(4)-4b-4b-(4)-4b--|
 G|--------------------------------|
 D|--------------------------------|
 A|--------------------------------|
 E|--------------------------------|

 Chorus

 Emaj Amaj
For the life of me I can not remember
 C#5 B5 Amaj
What made us think that we were wise
 Amaj Emaj
     And we'd never compromise
 Emaj Amaj
For the life of me I can not believe we'd

 e|---------------------------------------------------------|
 B|---------------------------------------------------------|
 G|----------6--------------4-------------------------------|
 D|-------6-----------4-------------------7------7-let-ring-|
 A|-----4---------2------------------7--------7-------------|
 E|-------------------------------5-------------------------|
ever die for these sins we were merely freshmen

 Outro (We were merely freshmen...)

 e|------------------0----------|
 B|------------------2----------|
 G|-----6-------4----2----------|
 D|---6---6---4---4--2----------|
 A|-4-------2--------0----------|
 E|-----------------------------|

End on this chord, strum slowly, arpeggiating each note

 e|--0--|
 B|--2--|
 G|--2--|
 D|--2--|
 A|--0--|
 E|-----|

Hope this works for you like it works for me. If you don't like this version,
you can always try the version in Guitar World, but don't come complaining to me
if you can't figure out how to play 2 guitars at the same time, or you don't
 know how
to use a capo. My version was actually written for a solo (1 guitar with vocals)
 Until next time!
